jan 31 is midousuji's birthday so you KNOW ya boi was out here cooking food and decorating cakes for him!!!! that is my husband of 10 years, after all!! i have been so thankful that ive been able to celebrate the last ten years of midousuji birthdays. actually technically 9 years since i got into yowapeda in april 2014 but it's about to be me n midousuji's 10 year anniversary so whatever. i made spicy sauced eggy silken tofu with rice for midou bday dinner!! then i also got this yummy chocolate melt cake from the bakery! we just did a very small midousuji bday celebration at home because all my midou collection is still stored away until i have the perfect spot to build my shrine. we have a spare room (that's intended to be the computer/craft room) but i just haven't bothered setting it up yet because we're storing a bunch of stuff in there currently. so small midou birthday bash!!!!

bot and i went with my mom to kernville for an overnight trip! my mom is moving to kernville for her retirement and has been house hunting there a lot. she finally found the perfect little house, it's a mobile home in a park right next to the river! i think i've talked about it on here before but i'm excited for her to get to retire and chill after raising basically eight children throughout her life, but i'm also gonna be saur sad when i can't just randomly show up at her house to bother her. my mom stans bbno$ (lmao) so i'm gonna make her like a mixtape thing she can take when she retires!
i really do think kernville is a gorgeous place. it's in the mountains and has this amazing river that goes right through town. i know those things aren't big to most people but you have to understand that i've lived my whole life in vegas and have never experienced anything like the woods before lol. there are so many insects, birds, interesting plants and flowers, and many kinds of rocks to identify. we brought our fucking touken ranbu nuis because of course we did, and took a SHIT TON of pictures of them. here's a variety of images from the trip, mostly of nuis!
this picture doesn't do the hotel justice at all but it was like an 80s log cabin and it was so cool. it had the biggest fuckin bathroom out of any hotel i've stayed in in recent memory and a FIREPLACE that we turned on all night. we won't have to stay in a hotel next time, though, since my mom just bought her house and now we'll stay there with her by the river!
the part of the blog was originally going to be a totally separate post, but i'm like idk why not just post it here within this one? i wanted to do a ~*~show and tell~*~ of one of the fun bookshelves in our living room!
this bookshelf has to many fun and cool things packed into it. i feel like this is one of those things where i can tell people "don't be afraid of growing up. you might think that becoming an adult means becoming boring and having normie interests, but in reality, it just means getting older and moving into your own cool apartment with your partner (or roommates or friends etc etc) and then FILLING THAT FUCKING PLACE WITH FANDOM SHIT" lmao. like this is what being an adult is to me. having the money and space to display random cool shit we like.
idk where bot got this bookshelf but it came with them when we moved in together, and we have absolutely packed it. we found the public school arc sebastian cover magazine one day by total chance. i also have the black butler vore edition displayed on the bottom with it because that art is just BEAUTIFULLLL
what's behind the black butler magazine you ask? many many touken ranbu magazines. we usually have a touken ranbu one displayed but for the moment, the bottom shelf is black butler.
hidden in the middle shelves are a bunch of gems, but two of my personal favorites are my original senjyushi artbook and gg overture artbook. i'm not sure the senjyushi one is still in print since the game was retired and closed in 2019, and i believe rhodoknight (its sequel that is also now out of service) had its own art book. i never could get extremely invested in the rhodoknight story but the original senjyushi remains extremely near and dear to my heart!! the guilty gear overture art book was something i bought for myself as a reward for winning camp nanowrimo for the first time. i wrote a 50k word novel about sin and the backstory to gg overture back in 2013, and i did it in just 15 days! i started halfway through the month and just unleashed my guilty gear lore brain unto the world. in 2013 there was NOT a lot of shit to go on for overture or anything that would happen "after" overture, and i genuinely thought the story of guilty gear was coming to a close at that time lol. how i juggled school and writing 3k words a day is still beyond me.
i also have copies of the original senjyushi manga and the little 4koma comic style book that was published! i'm literally so happy to have these because idk if they are easily obtainable today.
my other favorite series i own is ping pong! ping pong is my favorite anime so i just had to get the manga too, they were a gift from my best friend jules! also the heshishoku agenda lives on top of my entire death note manga collection lmao. the photobook in the front is like a chisa specific theng from the official ACME store.
even though it's got all pictures of chisa on the front, we use it to store all our chekis that aren't being displayed on our cheki wall. there are ACME, ashmaze/asavanza, and jiluka chekis in here!
the top area is mostly for jewel case size CDs. i have a collection of senjyushi osts from the original game, as well as the anime soundtrack and title song! they are literally my pride and joy lol, i only purchased the CDs of the characters i really liked or the music i really liked, which is why some are missing. chassepot's is *chef's kiss* oh yeah and these are where the small hypmic CDs live too!
the other side is a variety of stuff including all my silent hill CDs, weirdly when i bought silent hill 3 at gamestop a long time ago, it came as a two disc set along with the soundtrack. but the soundtrack didn't have the jewel case, so i bought it off ebay at some point lmao. i also have my personal alltime favorite album on this side, prismic by yuki. nobody really knows but yuki is actually my favorite singer and overall musical artist of all time. i discovered her music when i was in 8th grade and her voice heals something inside of me that i have no idea what it is. i've spent so long listening to her and watching her musical journey but still to this day, her first album is my favorite album ever made. i found it when i was in japan and i was so overjoyed to be bringing something so special back with me!!
also, we have nowhere to put them, but the plave mini albums that live on this bookshelf are so cool and aesthetically pleasing to look at. these albums came with fucking AIR FRESHENERS, like that was part of the album, every member got a scent (so omegaverse of them tbh) so they also all smell really good lmao.
yannyway that's the lil bookshelf! there's lots more stuff in there: every touken ranbu art book is in that bookshelf, along with so many magazines and albums that i don't really remember all of it lol. recently, we reorganized our display case and moved our signed BTS albums and special BTS items to the bottom shelf because they're really big, and displayed a bunch of the hypmic shit was have in the middle area! maybe in my next post i can go over what's in this mess lol
OH YEAH AND, if youre ever at a random rest stop in nevada, check the light poles for jyujyu stickers. they're around. they are everywhere hehehehe i know nevada is a big fucking state but humor me if you're ever driving around in the desert and TRY TO SEE OUR LIL GUYS!!
